Al Maaden Golf Course

It boasts an invigorating challenge for its players with an assortment of hazards, yet with multiple tee options, all golfers can experience this fabulous course regardless of their skill set.

This par 72 course measures an impressive 6644 metres from the very back tees, which may appear daunting to those of a higher handicap. However, thankfully there are plenty of forward tee positions for the more amateur players. Undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers and plenty of water hazards will make sure you stay focused and keep you on your toes. The varied terrain of the landscape here also emphasises the challenge the Al Maaden golf course bears.

This Al Maaden course has a distinct Scottish links feel, unusal for a Marrakech golf course, to it which creates interesting play. With rolling fairways and a relatively flat terrain, this course is easily walkable. Golfers are encouraged to bring their A game here with an impressive 104 bunkers strategically placed across the course. This course was designed to create the illusion to players that they are playing on an enlarged Moroccan garden, therefore the 5th, 6th, 12th and 18th holes are routed around several geometric water features.

The Al Maaden golf course boasts several excellent holes, but it is probably the concluding 18th that will stick in your mind, a long par 4 at 444 metres long. The drive requires precision and accuracy over one of the large lakes, therefore you must push your skillset to the limit. The tighter you go, the shorter your second shot but only the bravest will take the tiger line. Further elevation in the terrain is present between the 13th and 17th holes. Kyle Phillips has used his architectural gift to create a golf course with varied play that perfectly blends in with its surrounding environment, making it a great course to play on your next golf holiday to Morocco.

Caddies are compulsory in Morocco and on some courses that applies even if you hire a buggy. Fees are paid locally with the minimum amount being 100 Dirhams (£8.00) however if your caddy has done a good job then you are expected to pay 150 - 200 Dirhams. Please allow for this extra cost when you're planning your golf holiday to Morocco.
