Word is out that Tenerife is an excellent golf destination. The original El Peñón was joined by five excellent courses in the tourist resorts of the south-west. Now Golf Buenavista is open, and with Tecina Golf on the neighbouring island of La Gomera, there is now plenty of golf available for the travelling player. With more courses in the pipeline, golf is really taking off on Tenerife now.
However, there are still not enough courses to meet the high winter demand, so early booking is highly recommended, as European golfers flock here to enjoy the (almost!) guaranteed sunshine and warmth afforded to Tenerife by its southerly location. The courses reduce their rates considerably during the summer months, so a golf holiday from early May to late September can be much cheaper than on mainland Spain. Tenerife South Airport is close to most of the golf courses and resort areas, and is served by major UK airports year-round. |
